ANIIMS Opens MBBS Admissions for 114 Seats, State Quota Applications Begin From August 8

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 7:  The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Sri Vijaya Puram, has invited applications for admission to its MBBS programme for the 2026-27 academic session after receiving approval for 114 seats from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Admissions will be conducted through both the All India Quota and the State Quota for candidates who have qualified NEET-2026.

Of the 114 approved MBBS seats, 17 seats have been earmarked under the All India Quota and will be filled through online counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The remaining 97 seats will be filled under the State Quota, comprising 10 seats under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category and 87 category seats.

According to ANIIMS, only NEET-2026 qualified students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible to apply for the 97 State Quota seats. Candidates seeking admission under the All India Quota will participate in the counselling process conducted separately by the MCC.

The institute has invited online applications from eligible candidates through the Common College Admission Portal at https://collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in as well as through the ANIIMS website at https://aniims.andamannicobar.gov.in.

Online submission of application forms will commence on August 8, 2026, and continue until August 16, 2026. The provisional merit list of eligible candidates will be published on the institute’s website and notice board on August 17 at 11 a.m. Candidates may submit appeals and grievances between August 17, 12 noon, and August 19, 3 p.m. The final merit list is scheduled to be displayed on August 19 at 5 p.m.

The first round of counselling and document verification has been scheduled for August 21 and 22, with the last date for joining fixed as August 28. The second round of counselling will be held on September 8, followed by the last date for joining on September 14.

The third round of counselling and document verification is scheduled for September 26, with October 1 as the last date for joining. A stray vacancy round, if required, will be conducted on October 5, and selected candidates must complete joining formalities by October 10.

The academic session for the MBBS course for 2026-27 is scheduled to commence on September 8, 2026. ANIIMS has clarified that the counselling schedule is tentative and may be revised in accordance with directions issued by the Medical Counselling Committee from time to time. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the ANIIMS website and the institute’s notice board for updates.
