Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 4: Rural youth in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can enrol in free residential, job-oriented skill training under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDGKY) 2.0, with 100% placement support after successful completion, subject to applicable scheme provisions. The Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration has launched an intensive mobilisation campaign to reach eligible candidates in rural areas and assist them through the enrolment process.
The training initiative aims to provide industry-oriented skills to rural youth and improve their employment prospects. The courses will be delivered on a residential basis without training fees, while eligible candidates will receive placement support in accordance with DDGKY 2.0 provisions.
The Project Approval Committee, chaired by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (RD/Panch.), A&N Administration, has approved projects covering four job-oriented trades at training centres in South Andaman.
Aishwarya Vignan Educational Society, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, will conduct three courses. The Front Office Assistant course falls under the Tourism & Hospitality sector and requires candidates to have passed Class 10 without work experience. Eligibility is limited to candidates aged 18 to 35 years for males and 18 to 45 years for females. The household eligibility condition covers beneficiaries under SECC-2011 belonging to DAY-NRLM SHG, AAY, BPL-PHH, MGNREGA (VB-GRAMG) or PMJAY categories.
The same training provider will offer Multi-Skill Technician (Home Appliances) under the Electronics sector. Candidates can qualify with Class 8 and three years of experience, Class 10 and two years of experience, or Class 12 without experience. A Solar PV Installer–Electrical course under the Green Jobs sector will require candidates to have passed Class 12 without experience.
Orion Educational Society, Kolkata, West Bengal, will provide training for Guest Service Executive (Front Office) under Tourism & Hospitality. The course requires Class 12 qualification along with three years of experience.
Mobilisation teams from the Directorate will visit rural areas to explain the available courses, eligibility conditions and registration procedures. They will also help interested candidates understand documentation requirements, enrolment formalities, selection procedures and other steps involved in joining the programme.
