Sri Vijaya Puram, October 27: An adverse weather forecast has prompted the postponement of the Island Beach Games scheduled at Wandoor and Ramnagar beaches in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with organisers yet to announce revised dates.
The Directorate of Tourism took the decision in view of a forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Sri Vijaya Puram. The postponement is intended to protect public safety and allow the event to be conducted smoothly under suitable conditions.
The games were scheduled for October 30 and 31, with activities planned at Wandoor Beach and Ramnagar Beach in Diglipur. The Directorate of Tourism is organising the event in collaboration with the North and Middle Andaman District Administration, the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, and the Rural Development and Panchayat departments.

The authorities have not announced a new schedule. Participants and others planning to attend will have to await the revised dates, which organisers said they would announce shortly.
Registration and enquiries will continue to be handled through designated contacts for the respective venues, according to the earlier event announcement.
At Wandoor Beach, interested participants can contact Khalid, coach with Sports and Youth Affairs, at 9434290640 for information and registration. The listed activities include beach volleyball, tug of war, arm wrestling and the 100-metre sprint, among others.
Those seeking to participate in events at Ramnagar Beach in Diglipur can contact Bijoy Halder, Block Development Officer (BDO), Diglipur, for further information and registration.
The postponement affects the event’s planned schedule but does not amount to its cancellation. Organisers have indicated that they will communicate the revised dates separately.
Participants are advised to use the designated contacts for venue-specific registration queries while awaiting the updated programme.
