Island Beach Games 2026 to Bring Sports Competitions to Wandoor, Ramnagar on Oct 30–31

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: Wandoor Beach in South Andaman and Ramnagar Beach in Diglipur will host the Island Beach Games 2026 on October 30 and 31, bringing sporting competitions to two coastal locations as the administration seeks to promote beach tourism and recreational activities across the islands.

The Directorate of Information, Publicity and Tourism (IP&T) will organise the event in collaboration with the Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies, and the District Administration of North and Middle Andaman. The programme forms part of the approved Tourism Calendar of Events.

The competitions at both venues will include beach volleyball, tug of war, arm wrestling and a 100-metre sprint. Organisers will hold events in men’s and women’s categories and award winners across the competitions.

At Wandoor, the event will be coordinated with the local administration, Panchayati Raj Institutions, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and other stakeholders. At Ramnagar, the Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, will coordinate the programme with support from the local administration and community representatives.

The initiative aims to encourage community participation and healthy recreation while highlighting the potential of Wandoor and Ramnagar beaches for sports and other beach-based activities.

The IP&T Directorate has invited local youth, residents and other interested participants to take part in the games at either venue.

Those seeking information or registration details for Wandoor Beach can contact the Directorate’s Operational Unit at 9434282324. Participants interested in the Ramnagar Beach events can contact Bijoy Halder, Block Development Officer (BDO), Diglipur.

The two-day programme will bring sporting activities to South Andaman and North and Middle Andaman, with organisers planning competitions across four disciplines at both locations.
