Sri Vijaya Puram, April 25: Efforts to strengthen business formalisation and improve compliance awareness among entrepreneurs and startups in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were advanced through a one-day workshop on the Companies Act and company affairs held in Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme was organised by the Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the Registrar of Companies, Chennai, at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Industries. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Secretary (Industries), Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, with the objective of simplifying corporate legal frameworks and promoting ease of doing business in line with national initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
Around 70 participants attended the workshop, including students from higher education institutions, representatives of industry associations, startups, and local entrepreneurs. The session focused on increasing awareness of company incorporation processes and statutory compliance requirements.

Deputy Registrar of Companies, Aeshala Vamshi Krishna, served as the chief resource person and delivered detailed sessions on company formation, including Private Limited Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships, and One Person Companies. He also explained statutory compliance procedures such as AOC-4 and MGT-7 filings, along with governance frameworks and funding opportunities relevant to startups and MSMEs.
Officials from the Directorate of Industries highlighted the importance of understanding legal structures for businesses. Director of Industries Atul Soni emphasised the need for entrepreneurs to be well-informed about incorporation options such as Private Limited Companies, OPCs, and LLPs to ensure structured and compliant business operations.
Deputy Director Sunitha Kumari welcomed the participants and set the context of the workshop, while Deputy Director Ajit Anand delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the formal proceedings.
Startups also shared their experiences during the event. Entrepreneurs including Nitesh Deshmukh, founder of Cubelelo App, and Pavan Yasa, founder of Praja App, presented their journeys and encouraged participants to utilise knowledge of company law to strengthen and scale their ventures.
An interactive session and open-house question-and-answer segment allowed participants to engage directly with experts on issues related to company structures, Startup India benefits, and regulatory challenges.
The workshop provided participants with practical insights into entrepreneurship and compliance mechanisms, aiming to support business formalisation and improve operational efficiency. Officials noted that such initiatives are expected to contribute to local economic development and employment generation.
The Directorate of Industries reiterated its commitment to continuing capacity-building programmes aimed at promoting sustainable industrial growth and strengthening the startup ecosystem in the Union Territory.
