Sri Vijaya Puram, April 30: Police in South Andaman have solved a theft case within days of receiving a complaint, arresting the accused and recovering stolen property through a coordinated investigation.
According to police, the case was registered at Police Station Aberdeen on April 25, 2026, following a complaint of theft. A team was immediately formed to investigate the matter, comprising Sub-Inspector Dinesh Jaiswal and police constables K. Jagdish Babu, P. Mohd. Rafique and Sandeep Kerketta.
Officials said the team used technical surveillance and local intelligence to track the suspect. Based on these efforts, the accused, identified as Sunil Kumar, 50, son of Late Vasudevan and a resident of Stewartgunj, Bambooflat, was located and taken into custody.
Police recovered the stolen items from the possession of the accused. The articles were seized after following all prescribed legal procedures, officials said.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Sub-Inspector V. Siva Kumar, in charge of Police Station Aberdeen. Senior officers, including SDPO South Andaman Deependra Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police South Andaman Shweta K Sugathan, oversaw the case.

Police said the swift resolution of the case highlights the role of coordinated fieldwork, use of technology and actionable intelligence in addressing property crimes. The prompt recovery of stolen goods also prevented further disposal or loss of evidence, officials added.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to crimes or suspicious activities.
