Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 29: The Lieutenant Governor has directed government departments to expedite pending matters and ensure that issues affecting the public receive timely attention, as the administration reviewed departmental progress and preparations for the forthcoming Janta Darshan programme at Lok Niwas on October 28.
The review focused on the status of ongoing work, compliance with earlier directions and the need for departments to address public-interest matters without undue delay. Officials were instructed to regularly assess progress within their respective departments and accelerate the disposal of pending cases.
The meeting brought together the Chief Secretary, Gyanesh Bharti, the Director General of Police, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, departmental secretaries and other senior officers. The review covered progress reports from various departments and compliance with instructions issued during earlier meetings.

The directions place responsibility on individual departments to monitor their work and prevent delays in resolving matters of public concern. However, the administration’s review did not specify the number of pending cases, identify departments facing delays or provide details of the projects and matters examined.
Following the departmental review, the Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat convened a separate meeting at Lok Niwas with the Special Secretary, the Officer on Special Duty and other officers and staff. The meeting focused on implementing instructions within the prescribed timelines.
Officials also reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Janta Darshan programme, through which matters raised by the public are to be taken up. The meeting assigned responsibilities to the concerned officers and issued directions for completing the necessary arrangements in time.
The Secretariat’s review emphasised the need for coordinated preparations to ensure the programme proceeds in an orderly manner. Officers and staff were directed to complete their assigned tasks within the stipulated schedule.
The administration has not announced the date of the forthcoming Janta Darshan programme in the information released about the meetings.
The twin reviews covered two administrative priorities: monitoring departmental work and ensuring readiness for the public-facing programme. The directions call for timely action on pending matters and adherence to deadlines, while the specific outcomes of the departmental review and the status of individual public grievances remain unspecified.
