Billiground, October 16: Security preparations for Durga Puja have been stepped up in North and Middle Andaman, with police conducting a flag march in Billiground and putting arrangements in place at Puja venues to manage crowds, regulate traffic and maintain order during the celebrations.
The flag march aimed to increase police visibility, discourage anti-social activities and reassure residents ahead of the festival, according to North and Middle Andaman Police.
Police have also made security arrangements at all Puja venues, focusing on crowd management, traffic regulation and parking. These measures are intended to address the movement of visitors and vehicles around celebration sites during the festive period.

Station House Officers (SHOs) have held meetings with Puja committees to coordinate preparations and support the peaceful conduct of celebrations. The meetings are intended to ensure coordination between organisers and police on arrangements at the venues.
North and Middle Andaman Police have urged residents to maintain peace and communal harmony throughout Durga Puja. The public has also been asked to follow traffic rules and cooperate with police personnel to help ensure safe celebrations.

The appeal places responsibility on both organisers and the public to observe safety measures, manage traffic responsibly and avoid actions that could disrupt the festivities.
The flag march and venue-level arrangements form part of the police preparations for the festival in the district. Details of the number of personnel deployed, specific traffic diversions or restrictions, and the duration of the security arrangements were not provided in the information released.
