Nicobar, October 16: Residents of Teressa received around 50 certificates during a two-day revenue camp organised by the Nicobar district administration, bringing essential documentation services to the local community through the Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore initiative.
The camp, held on October 14 and 15 at the Special Relief Officer’s office in Teressa, issued 30 income certificates, 18 Scheduled Tribe certificates and two senior citizen certificates, according to the district administration.
Assistant Commissioner of Nancowry Athonai Edward attended the camp alongside the chairman of the Teressa Tribal Council, the Assistant Education Officer of Nancowry, tribal leaders and members of the public.

During the programme, Edward interacted with residents and explained the purpose of the initiative, which seeks to deliver government services closer to people rather than requiring them to travel to administrative offices for routine services.
The certificate distribution formed the main service-delivery component of the camp, addressing residents’ requirements for income documentation, Scheduled Tribe certification and proof of senior citizen status. The administration did not provide further details on individual applications or the eligibility criteria applied during the exercise.
The district administration also assured residents that it would organise similar revenue camps at regular intervals in the future. The announcement signals plans to continue taking revenue-related services to local communities through the outreach programme.
Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore, under which the Teressa camp was organised, focuses on bringing administration and public services closer to residents. The district administration described the exercise as part of its effort to make services accessible at people’s doorsteps.
The two-day camp brought together district officials, tribal representatives and residents at the SRO office, combining public interaction with the issuance of certificates. The administration’s assurance of periodic camps is expected to provide a continuing channel for residents to access such services locally.
