Sri Vijaya Puram, October 9: The Andaman and Nicobar Command marked 25 years of service by paying tribute to personnel who died in the line of duty, with a wreath-laying ceremony at Brichgunj War Memorial forming part of its Silver Jubilee observances. The ceremony brought together serving military leadership and veterans to honour those who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation.
Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), laid a wreath at the memorial in remembrance of the fallen personnel. Veterans and members of the military fraternity also laid wreaths, paying their respects to those who lost their lives while serving the country.
The ceremony formed part of the Command’s commemoration of 25 years of service in the strategically important Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The observance combined the anniversary with a remembrance of the personnel whose contributions and sacrifices have shaped the Command’s history.
Veterans’ participation connected the anniversary celebrations with the experiences of earlier generations of Service personnel. Their presence highlighted the role of those who served before the current generation and whose legacy remains part of the Command’s institutional heritage.
The tribute also underscored the continuity of military service across generations, with the sacrifices of fallen personnel remaining central to the commemoration. The ceremony provided an occasion for serving personnel and veterans to collectively remember those who did not return from duty.
The Andaman and Nicobar Command’s Silver Jubilee marks a milestone in its service in the island territory, while the wreath-laying ceremony placed remembrance at the centre of the occasion. The observance honoured the courage, commitment and devotion to duty associated with generations of personnel who have served in the islands
