Sri Vijaya Puram, October 5: Patients and attendants at G.B. Pant Hospital will have access to additional seating in key waiting areas after the hospital acted on concerns over inadequate facilities during periods of medical consultation and treatment. The new chairs have been placed in the Surgical Ward and areas near the ICU following directions issued by the Lieutenant Governor during his recent visit to the hospital.
The Lieutenant Governor took note of the difficulties faced by patients and their attendants because of limited seating and instructed hospital authorities to make suitable arrangements in areas where the facility was required. The directions specifically covered the Surgical Ward and the vicinity of the ICU, where patients and attendants may need to wait for hospital services.
The District Administration has since implemented the directions through the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of G.B. Pant Hospital under the National Health Mission. Additional chairs have been installed at the identified locations to provide seating for people waiting for medical consultations, treatment and other hospital-related services.

The intervention is intended to improve basic patient amenities within the hospital, particularly for attendants accompanying patients during waiting periods. The additional seating is expected to provide greater convenience to those required to remain at the hospital while patients receive care.
The action follows the Lieutenant Governor’s assessment of the existing seating arrangements during his hospital visit and the subsequent direction for corrective measures.
The District Administration’s implementation through the Rogi Kalyan Samiti places the focus on a basic but immediate facility for patients and attendants using the hospital.
The Administration said the measure reflects its focus on patient convenience, improved hospital amenities and responsive public healthcare services at G.B. Pant Hospital. The additional seating has been provided in the required areas in line with the directions issued during the Lieutenant Governor’s visit.
