Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 23: Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, began Hindi Pakhwada 2026 on September 22, with an emphasis on expanding the use of Hindi in official communication and workplace activities. The fortnight opened with an inaugural ceremony followed by a self-composed Hindi poetry recitation competition for employees.
The inaugural programme was held at 11 a.m. in the Conference Hall of Akashvani. Naresh Chander Lall, Padma Shree awardee, film director and producer, Member of the Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and Brand Ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, attended as chief guest.
Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary and Member Secretary of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Official Language Department, Secretariat, was the guest of honour. C. Subba Rao, DDG (Engineering), Cluster Head and Head of Office of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, presided over the programme.
In his address, Lall underlined the importance of promoting Hindi and increasing its visibility across different spheres. He also recalled his long association with Akashvani, including his memories and experiences with the organisation since the Kendra was inaugurated in 1963. He urged the audience to continue contributing to the wider use of Hindi.
Indwar called for greater use of Hindi in official work and everyday communication. He encouraged officials and employees to integrate the language into office functioning and participate actively in implementing the Official Language policy.
Subba Rao also stressed the need to increase the use of Hindi in official communication and encouraged employees to take part in activities organised to promote the language.
Deepak Chandra Tiwari, Assistant Director (Official Language) and Drawing and Disbursing Officer, proposed the vote of thanks at the inaugural ceremony, acknowledging the participation and support of the chief guest, guest of honour, Head of Office, officials and employees.
The programme was followed by a self-composed Hindi poetry recitation competition. Sanam, Assistant Director (Programme) and Head of Programme at Doordarshan Kendra, served as the judge.
Employees of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra presented original Hindi poems covering varied themes. Their entries focused on creativity, literary expression and command of the language.
After the recitations, Sanam addressed the gathering and appreciated the participants’ efforts. She encouraged employees to continue developing their creative abilities and participating in literary and cultural activities.
Tiwari proposed the concluding vote of thanks for the poetry competition, expressing appreciation to the judge, participants and audience for their participation and cooperation. The events marked the opening of Hindi Pakhwada 2026 at the two public broadcasting establishments in Sri Vijaya Puram.
