Police Seize 3.10 Grams of Suspected Methamphetamine in Prem Nagar, Arrest 27-Year-Old Rider

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 15: Police seized 3.10 grams of suspected crystalline methamphetamine from a scooter in Prem Nagar late on September 14 and arrested its 27-year-old rider after the substance tested positive for methamphetamine, according to police.

The seizure took place at around 11 pm when the police team noticed a scooter bearing registration number AN01 T 2847 approaching the area. Police intercepted the vehicle and identified the rider as Praveen Chakraborty, a resident of Prem Nagar.

During a search of the scooter’s boot space, police recovered a transparent plastic pouch containing a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Police said Chakraborty identified the substance as crystalline methamphetamine during the search.

The recovered substance was subsequently examined using a drug detection kit and reportedly returned a positive test for methamphetamine. Police recorded the combined weight of the transparent pouch and the crystalline substance as 3.10 grams.

The seizure formed the basis of the police action against Chakraborty, who was arrested at around 12:40 am on September 15. Police identified him as a resident of Prem Nagar near Kali Mandir.

Along with the suspected drug, police seized the scooter bearing registration number AN01 T 2847 and its ignition key as part of the case.

The operation resulted in the recovery of a suspected illicit drug from a vehicle being ridden through the area late at night, with the police proceeding against the rider following the field test of the seized substance.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
