AH&VS Screens 33 Cows at Bambooflat Camp, Detects Two Cases of Anoestrus

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 9:  Two cases of anoestrus were detected among 33 cows examined during a Health-cum-Infertility Camp organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) at Modern Village, Azad Nagar, Bambooflat, as part of efforts to address bovine reproductive health and provide timely veterinary guidance to dairy farmers.

The camp recorded no cases of infertility. Farmers whose animals required attention received advice on managing the identified reproductive health condition and were guided on measures to support animal health and productivity.

Veterinary personnel also used the programme to advise livestock owners on scientific feeding and proper animal management. The guidance covered routine measures such as timely deworming and vaccination, aimed at maintaining the health of cattle and supporting their productivity.

The department also familiarised farmers with available schemes and veterinary services, including the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Artificial Insemination. The session specifically covered Sex Sorted Semen Artificial Insemination, which was presented to farmers as a reproductive service that can help improve conception rates and dairy productivity.

The programme combined examination of cattle with direct technical guidance for livestock owners, allowing reproductive health concerns identified during the camp to be addressed through specific advice. The two anoestrus cases were accordingly taken up with the concerned livestock owners for management guidance.

The camp formed part of AH&VS efforts to provide farmers with veterinary support focused on both animal health and reproductive management. By combining clinical examination with information on feeding, preventive care, credit access and Artificial Insemination services, the programme addressed the immediate cases identified among the cattle while providing farmers with technical guidance on managing their animals.
