Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 25: A district-level youth competition in Mayabunder brought together students for a campaign promoting awareness about substance abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society, with MY Bharat and Mahatma Gandhi College organising the programme under the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign.
The initiative sought to engage young people through creative and participatory activities while linking drug-prevention awareness with their role in nation-building.
The programme was inaugurated by S. Krishna Chaitanya, ADM, Mayabunder, who highlighted the significance of the campaign and the role of youth in creating a healthy and drug-free society.
Chaitanya also drew attention to the role of ICRA and the MANAS Helpline in strengthening awareness and prevention efforts related to substance abuse.
Students participated in a range of competitions during the district-level programme, including painting, music, dance, slogan writing and reel-making. The activities provided participants with platforms to express their creativity while engaging with the campaign’s focus on substance-abuse awareness.
The programme also included the Gems of India Challenge through the Gems of India portal. Students took part in the challenge as part of the activities organised during the event.
The competitions concluded with the distribution of prize money and awards to the winners.
During the closing session, Deepak Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, presented a report outlining the proceedings and outcomes of the programme.
The event combined awareness activities with student competitions, placing youth participation at the centre of the district-level campaign. Through painting, music, dance, slogan writing, reel-making and the Gems of India Challenge, participants were engaged in activities linked to the broader message of a drug-free society.
The programme also highlighted awareness and prevention mechanisms related to substance abuse, including the role attributed to ICRA and the MANAS Helpline during the inaugural address.
The campaign was conducted by MY Bharat in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi College, Mayabunder, bringing the district-level activities to students through a mix of awareness and creative competitions.
The organisers concluded the programme by recognising the competition winners with awards and prize money, while the MY Bharat District Youth Officer documented the proceedings and outcomes during the closing session.
