Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has urged all eligible beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to generate their Ayushman Cards by August 15, 2026, warning that completing the process is essential to ensure uninterrupted access to cashless healthcare benefits available under the flagship health insurance scheme.
The appeal is aimed at Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration card holder families across the Union Territory who are eligible under the scheme but have not yet generated their Ayushman Cards. The Administration has requested beneficiaries to complete the process within the stipulated timeline to avoid any inconvenience in availing treatment whenever required.
The AB-PMJAY was launched in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 23, 2018, with the objective of improving access to quality healthcare. Under the scheme, eligible families receive cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation at empanelled government and private hospitals across India.
According to the Administration, all PHH and AAY ration card holders in the Union Territory qualify for the scheme and can access its benefits once their Ayushman Cards are generated. The card serves as the key document enabling beneficiaries to avail themselves of cashless treatment under the programme.
To facilitate the enrolment process, eligible residents have been advised to generate their Ayushman Cards through multiple authorised channels. These include the Ayushman App, available on the Google Play Store, the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC), the nearest health centre, or the AB-PMJAY Help Desk at G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijaya Puram.
The Administration has also made available a step-by-step instructional video explaining the complete card generation process. Beneficiaries can access the guide by scanning the QR code issued along with the official notification, enabling them to complete the process independently if required.
Officials said the initiative is intended to ensure that all eligible families remain prepared to access healthcare services without financial barriers in the event of hospitalisation. Completing the card generation process in advance would enable beneficiaries to avail themselves of cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals across the country whenever medical needs arise.
