Corbyn’s Cove Hosts Cultural Finale and Beach Volleyball Championship to Boost Tourism

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: Corbyn’s Cove Beach witnessed a blend of culture, sports and tourism as the two-day event, Musical Harmony by Night, concluded with vibrant performances by local artists and the finals of the Monsoon Beach Volleyball Tournament, drawing large crowds of residents and visitors to one of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ most popular tourist destinations.

The event was organised by the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council in coordination with the Department of Tourism, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, and the Department of Art & Culture. According to the organisers, the initiative was aimed at promoting local artistic talent, enriching the cultural experience of visitors and encouraging tourism through engaging cultural activities.

The concluding evening featured a series of performances by island artists, including patriotic and contemporary musical presentations as well as cultural dance performances showcasing the region’s artistic heritage. The programme received an enthusiastic response from members of the public and tourists, who gathered at Corbyn’s Cove Beach to witness the performances.

Artists from Inspiration Dance Studio, BRW Music Wing and Allpha Musical entertained the audience with a variety of musical and cultural performances, contributing to the festive atmosphere during the closing ceremony.

Alongside the cultural programme, the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education and the Directorate of Tourism, organised the second edition of the Monsoon Beach Volleyball Tournament at Corbyn’s Cove Beach in the Open Men and Open Women categories.

The tournament was held with the objective of promoting beach volleyball, encouraging sportsmanship and providing volleyball enthusiasts with an opportunity to display their skills in a competitive setting.

A total of 39 teams participated in the tournament, which was open to all competitors. The event attracted a large gathering of local residents, tourists, students and families, who assembled along the beachfront to support the participating teams and witness the final matches.

The championship matches featured competitive rallies, powerful smashes and well-executed serves, drawing applause and appreciation from spectators throughout the finals.

In the men’s category, KN Brothers emerged as champions after winning the final, while New Pahargaon secured the women’s title by finishing as champions in the Open Women category.

V. Ranjith Kumar, Assistant Director, Sports, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, presented trophies to the winning teams during the prize distribution ceremony.

The conclusion of Musical Harmony by Night and the Monsoon Beach Volleyball Tournament brought together culture, tourism and sport at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, highlighting local artistic talent while providing visitors and residents with a weekend programme centred on community participation and recreational activities.
