Four-Wheeler Movement Banned on PM SHRI KV-I–Carmel School Road Amid Culvert Work

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: The District Magistrate of South Andaman has imposed an immediate ban on the movement of all four-wheeler vehicles along the road connecting PM SHRI KV-I School and Carmel Senior Secondary School as culvert construction work continues. The restriction has been enforced in the interest of public safety and will remain in effect until the construction is completed or the order is withdrawn.

The order has been issued under the powers conferred by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Act No. 59 of 1988), read with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s Notification No. 32-95/2008-TR dated March 10, 2008.

According to the notification, all four-wheeler vehicles are prohibited from using the stretch of road leading from PM SHRI KV-I School to Carmel Senior Secondary School with immediate effect. The restriction has been introduced to facilitate the ongoing culvert construction work while ensuring the safety of road users.

The District Magistrate stated that the measure has been taken in the interest of public safety during the execution of the construction work. The notification specifies that the restriction applies to all four-wheeler vehicles using the affected road.

The order came into force immediately upon its issuance. It will remain operational until the ongoing culvert construction work is completed or until it is withdrawn through a subsequent order issued by the District Magistrate, South Andaman District, whichever occurs earlier.

The notification has been issued as a temporary traffic regulation linked specifically to the duration of the construction work. No separate timeline for the completion of the project has been mentioned in the order.

With the restriction now in effect, four-wheeler movement on the specified road stretch will remain suspended until the Administration issues a fresh order or the culvert construction is completed.
