Sri Vijaya Puram, July 10: Illegal liquor-related offences continued to come under enforcement scrutiny in North and Middle Andaman, where authorities registered four cases under the Excise Regulation and seized 75 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a week-long enforcement drive conducted across the district.
According to the North and Middle Andaman District Police, the action was carried out between June 29 and July 5, 2026, during raids conducted at different locations across the district as part of enforcement under the Excise Regulation.
During the operations, four cases were registered under the Excise Regulation after authorities detected alleged violations at multiple locations. Officials said a total of 75 bottles of IMFL, measuring approximately 50 litres, were recovered during the raids.
The seized liquor has been taken into custody as part of the cases registered during the enforcement drive.
Authorities said legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused persons under Regulation 32 of Regulation III of 1876. The investigation and legal process in the registered cases will proceed in accordance with the provisions of the Excise Regulation.
The week-long enforcement action forms part of routine checks conducted across the district to identify and act against alleged violations relating to the possession and movement of liquor under the applicable excise laws.
Officials have appealed to members of the public to share information relating to illegal liquor activities or any other criminal offences with the nearest police station. Information can also be shared through the emergency helpline numbers 100 and 112 or by contacting 03192-273344.
According to the district police, the identity of informants providing credible information will be kept confidential. Authorities also stated that suitable rewards will be provided in cases where information leads to the detection of offences.
The latest enforcement figures indicate that four excise cases were registered and 75 bottles of IMFL, amounting to nearly 50 litres, were seized across North and Middle Andaman during the reporting period from June 29 to July 5, while legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Excise Regulation.
