The Wave Andaman Debuts Its YouTube Podcast from Islands

New series to feature influential voices, starting with Mohammed Jadwet, bridging local stories to global audiences.

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram: In a milestone for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ digital media landscape, The Wave Andaman has launched The Wave Andaman Podcast, the first YouTube-based podcast series originating from the islands. The initiative aims to bring the region’s voices, stories, and perspectives to a wider audience, preserving local history while connecting island narratives to national and global conversations.

The debut episode features noted businessman and philanthropist Mohammed Jadwet, who offers an intimate account of the Jadwet family’s three-generation legacy in the islands. “Our family’s journey is intertwined with the journey of the islands themselves,” he reflects during the conversation. Jadwet also addresses pressing social and economic challenges, stressing that some issues “cannot wait another decade” and require urgent attention from both the Union government and the local administration.

Hosted by veteran journalist Sanjib Kumar Roy, the podcast is envisioned as a platform for in-depth, meaningful conversations. Upcoming episodes will feature leading figures from business, culture, academia, human rights, and the arts, while also engaging with national and international topics such as politics, geopolitics, entertainment, and finance.

Anchored by a mix of prominent journalists and academics from both the islands and mainland India, the podcast will be released fortnightly on The Wave Andaman’s YouTube channel. Future guests will include entrepreneurs, cultural icons, and community leaders, each sharing their personal journeys and unique perspectives.

Islanders interested in being featured can reach out to the editorial team at editor@thewaveandaman.com with submissions evaluated based on alignment with the podcast’s mission.

The first episode is now available to watch on The Wave Andaman’s official YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMG-eCiCeYE. Viewers are encouraged to share feedback and suggest future topics or personalities via the same email address.

With this launch, The Wave Andaman seeks to create a lasting digital archive that captures the islands’ diverse voices, concerns, and aspirations, ensuring that the stories of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands travel far beyond their shores.
