National Sports Day 2026: South Andaman Schoolchildren Compete in Road Race at Netaji Stadium

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 28:  Schoolchildren from schools under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman, competed in a road race at Netaji Stadium as part of National Sports Day 2026, with separate events held for boys and girls.

The event was organised by the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman, to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness and the overall development of young players. The initiative also sought to encourage greater participation in sports among schoolchildren.

In the boys’ category, P. Pradosh of PM SHRI GSSS Prothrapur secured first position. S. Jashwant of GSSS Rangachang finished second, while Prodip Sarkar of PM SHRI GSSS Prothrapur placed third.

Mohd Tabrej of GSSS Boys finished fourth and Saurav Kumar of GSSS Rangachang secured fifth position.

In the girls’ category, Naw Sandrila of GSSS Girls secured first position. Arpita Toppo of GSSS Rangachang finished second, followed by Sanjana Bai of GSSS Bhathubasti in third place.

Y. Deepika of GSSS Girls secured fourth position, while Aashwani Pahan of GSSS Rangachang finished fifth.

The road race formed part of the activities organised to mark National Sports Day 2026 and was open to both boys and girls. The Education Department said the initiative reflected its continued efforts to strengthen sports participation and build a sporting culture among students.

The event at Netaji Stadium brought together schoolchildren from institutions under the South Andaman education jurisdiction for a competitive sporting activity focused on physical fitness and participation.

The winners were presented with certificates and medals and were encouraged to continue taking part in sporting activities in the future.
