Maintenance Work to Halt Power Supply Across Key South Andaman Areas on 11 Feb

Date:

The South Andaman Division has informed the public and government departments that power supply will be suspended on 11 February 2026 to facilitate interconnection work at Wimberlygunj, ABS setting on a four-pole structure at Ferrargunj, and pole shifting at Bangla Pahad.

The shutdown will affect multiple feeders, with work scheduled from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The SBFG feeder will cover the areas between Bambooflat substation to Tanki Pahad, Tanki Pahad to Wimberlygunj, Shoal Bay, Wimberlygunj to Ferrargunj, and Jirkatang.

Additionally, the PV feeder will be affected, impacting Shore Point, Govinda Puram to Wimberlygunj, Lamba Pahad, and Kanya Puram. Residents and government offices in these areas are advised to make arrangements for essential services during the outage period.

Officials noted that the works will be carried out subject to weather conditions. In case the maintenance is completed earlier than anticipated, power will be restored accordingly to the affected feeders. The interconnection and ABS setting work are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades to ensure improved reliability and safety of the electricity network across South Andaman.

Authorities emphasized that the scheduled maintenance is essential to enhance the efficiency of power distribution and prevent unplanned outages in the future. By undertaking the interconnection work and pole shifting, the South Andaman Division aims to maintain a stable supply for residential, commercial, and government users across the affected areas.

Residents relying on essential electrical services, including healthcare facilities, offices, and commercial establishments, are advised to plan their power usage accordingly. The administration has also urged consumers to exercise caution during the outage period and avoid tampering with electrical connections.

The temporary suspension of power supply reflects routine but critical infrastructure maintenance, which is part of broader efforts to strengthen the electrical grid and support consistent energy delivery across South Andaman. Authorities have assured that all necessary precautions will be taken to minimize inconvenience and restore power promptly once work is completed.

The South Andaman Division has committed to keeping the public informed regarding the progress of the work and any changes to the schedule. Consumers are encouraged to follow updates issued by the division to stay aware of potential variations due to weather or operational requirements.

This scheduled outage forms part of ongoing measures to ensure sustainable and reliable electricity supply in South Andaman, addressing both current demand and future expansion needs of residential and institutional areas across the region.
