Revenue Camp Courts Dispose of 79 Long-Pending Land Diversion Cases in South Andaman

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 15: In a move aimed at reducing the backlog of revenue matters and improving public service delivery, the South Andaman District Administration has disposed of 79 long-pending land diversion cases through special Revenue Camp Courts conducted in Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep, as part of a focused initiative to expedite pending applications in Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil.

The Revenue Camp Courts were held on July 11 at the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Swaraj Dweep, and on July 13 at the Patwari Office, Shaheed Dweep, under the chairmanship of Kamaleshwar Rao S, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman.

According to the District Administration, the initiative was undertaken to ensure the speedy disposal of pending land diversion cases at the field level while providing timely, transparent and accessible services to applicants.

A large number of applicants attended the proceedings. During the Camp Courts, 65 land diversion cases pending up to June 2026 were heard and disposed of at Swaraj Dweep, while another 14 pending cases were disposed of at Shaheed Dweep in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.

The Administration said the special proceedings were aimed at reducing delays in revenue-related matters by bringing administrative services closer to the public and facilitating quicker decision-making.

Apart from reviewing the land diversion cases, the Assistant Commissioner also visited Swaraj Dweep to inspect the progress of the ongoing Modernized Sea Port Terminal project.

In another administrative initiative, a special Camp Court was conducted at Swaraj Dweep Police Station on July 12, during which 18 Unnatural Death (UD) cases were disposed of.

The District Administration stated that the series of Camp Courts has significantly streamlined the disposal of pending cases and contributed to reducing the pendency of long-standing revenue matters. The initiative is intended to provide timely relief to applicants while improving the efficiency of public service delivery.

According to the Administration, organizing Revenue Camp Courts at the field level forms part of its citizen-centric governance approach by making essential government services more accessible and ensuring faster disposal of pending applications.

The South Andaman District Administration said similar Camp Courts and outreach programmes will continue to be organised at regular intervals to improve administrative accessibility, enhance public service delivery and further reduce the pendency of revenue-related matters across the district.
