Sri Vijaya Puram, May 8: The Common Entrance Test (CET) 2026 for admission to seven seats allocated to the Indian Maritime University (IMU) was successfully conducted on May 6, 2026, with the Maritime Department promptly initiating the post-examination evaluation and answer verification process.
The initial answer key for the IMU-CET 2026 examination was displayed on the Notice Board of the Maritime Department on the same day at 1 p.m. to ensure transparency and provide candidates with an opportunity to assess their responses.
Candidates who appeared for the examination were invited to submit claims, objections or discrepancies regarding the provisional answer key up to May 7, 2026. The process was introduced to ensure fairness and accuracy in the evaluation system by allowing students to raise concerns about any disputed answers.
According to officials, several objections and representations were received from candidates within the stipulated period. Following a review of these objections, the department undertook a detailed examination of the disputed responses before finalising the revised answer key.
The Maritime Department has now prepared and released the revised answer key for IMU-CET 2026 after considering the objections submitted by candidates and examining the relevant academic references and evaluation standards.
All candidates have been informed that the revised answer key has been displayed on the Notice Board of the Maritime Department. Aspirants have been advised to verify their answers against the revised key for better clarity regarding their expected performance in the entrance examination.
The IMU-CET examination is conducted for admission to seats allocated for various maritime education programmes under the Indian Maritime University. The entrance test plays a crucial role in selecting eligible candidates for professional maritime training and education opportunities.

The seven seats covered under the current entrance process are considered significant opportunities for students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands aspiring to pursue careers in the maritime sector.
The Maritime Department stated that the answer key review mechanism not only helps address candidate grievances but also strengthens confidence in the examination and evaluation process.
Candidates were further advised to regularly follow official notifications issued by the Maritime Department for updates regarding results, counselling schedules and admission formalities related to IMU-CET 2026.
Officials reiterated that only the revised answer key displayed on the official notice board of the department will be treated as final for evaluation purposes.
The Indian Maritime University is one of the country’s premier institutions for maritime education and training and offers programmes related to marine engineering, nautical science, logistics and shipping management.
