Pahargaon Meth Probe Widens With Arrest of Another Suspect, Police Trace Drug Links

Investigation into the Kodiyaghat seizure has led police to another accused as they trace the suspected methamphetamine network.

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, August 18: The Pahargaon Police have arrested another person in a methamphetamine case, with the investigation into a recent drug seizure at Kodiyaghat leading officers to Rohan Prasad, a resident of Dairy Farm.

Prasad was arrested after police gathered additional information during the investigation that followed the arrest of two persons on August 6 in connection with the case. A large quantity of suspected methamphetamine was reportedly recovered during the course of the investigation.

The latest arrest comes after police action at Kodiyaghat, where officers on a routine patrol allegedly recovered 2.70 grams of a suspected methamphetamine-like substance from a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. The police subsequently arrested 19-year-old Adithya Bilung, a resident of OM Nagar, Shadipur, in connection with the case, while Abhishek Kumar Singh was identified as the person driving the vehicle.

According to the information available, the patrol team noticed the vehicle parked near the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture. Officers found two persons inside and conducted a search of the vehicle.

The search allegedly resulted in the recovery of a brown wallet containing ₹1,650 in cash, an Aadhaar card belonging to Bilung and a transparent plastic pouch containing a white, stone-like substance. Police treated the recovered material as suspected methamphetamine and recorded its weight at 2.70 grams.

The vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 bearing registration number AN01 L 9342, was also seized along with the other case property. The seized items and vehicle were brought to Pahargaon Police Station and deposited in the Malkhana for further investigation.

The investigation following the initial police action subsequently led to the arrest of two persons on August 6. Police continued examining information gathered during the probe before arresting Prasad in the latest development.

Prasad was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police are now examining the source of the suspected contraband and its intended destination. Investigators are also probing the possible involvement of other persons in the drug network.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged possession and movement of the suspected methamphetamine remain under investigation as police continue to trace the links emerging from the case.
