Indian Navy to Stage Navy Day 2025 Operational Demonstration in Thiruvananthapuram

Date:

The Indian Navy announced that Navy Day 2025 will be celebrated with a large-scale Operational Demonstration on December 3 at Shangumugham beach in Thiruvananthapuram. The event, advanced by a day from its earlier December 4 schedule, will highlight the Navy’s precision, professionalism, and expanding maritime capabilities.

Continuing the recent practice of hosting Navy Day celebrations outside major naval bases, the Navy noted that previous years’ Operational Demonstrations were held in Puri, Odisha, and Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. This year’s event aims to bring naval operations closer to the public while showcasing India’s maritime preparedness.

According to the Indian Navy, the demonstration will offer citizens an opportunity to witness multiple facets of its multi-domain operations. The service said the mega event will highlight state-of-the-art operational platforms and reinforce its role as the “Preferred Security Partner” in the Indian Ocean Region, guided by the wider MAHASAGAR vision—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.

The Navy stated that the demonstration will feature coordinated manoeuvres by frontline platforms to exhibit combat proficiency, technological advancements, and operational readiness. It added that surface, sub-surface, and aerial assets will operate in seamless coordination, reflecting the force’s ability to protect India’s maritime frontiers across diverse scenarios.

Aligned with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the event will prominently showcase indigenous naval platforms that represent India’s expanding defence manufacturing ecosystem. These assets, the Navy said, embody the service’s sustained commitment to the Make in India push and to developing a modern, technologically advanced maritime force.

The Navy also emphasised that the celebrations will reinforce its preparedness and deterrent posture demonstrated during “Operation Sindoor,” underscoring its capability to respond with speed and precision. The display will pay tribute to the discipline and courage of naval personnel who safeguard India’s sovereignty and maritime interests.

Navy Day marks the Indian Navy’s pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, particularly during Operation Trident, when missile boats struck Karachi harbour in a decisive offensive. The operation remains a landmark in India’s naval history, showcasing strategic planning, maritime superiority, and operational excellence.

The Operational Demonstration 2025 aims to highlight the Navy’s identity as a combat-ready, cohesive, credible, and self-reliant force committed to securing maritime spaces for a Viksit and Samriddha Bharat.
