MP Bishnu Pada Ray reviews Lauki Nallah Bridge, assures safety, connectivity

Date:

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, along with the Deputy Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman, visited Duke Nagar Village to review ongoing developmental activities and interact with local residents.

During the visit, the Hon’ble MP inspected the proposed site for the Lauki Nallah Bridge, which, once completed, is expected to significantly improve local connectivity and ease movement for residents.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that land for the proposed bridge has already been set apart. Shri Bishnu Pada Ray also briefed the gathering on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, encouraging residents to avail benefits under the scheme.

As a safety measure, the Deputy Commissioner handed over 20 life jackets and ropes to the Ward Member of Duke Nagar for use by commuters crossing the existing bridge area until the new bridge is completed, ensuring no further loss of life.

Residents also requested an STS school bus facility up to Ram Mandir, Duke Nagar. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter would be examined and appropriate action taken soon.

Concerns regarding water supply were also raised, to which the Deputy Commissioner responded that the ongoing work is progressing and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

The District Administration reiterated its commitment to the welfare and development of residents in the North & Middle Andaman District.
