Sri Vijaya Puram, June 19: In an effort to promote local cuisine, traditional products, entrepreneurship and year-round tourism, the Tourism Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will organize the Monsoon Food and Spice Fest #MonsoonFlavours 2026 from June 26 to June 28 at the ITF Ground in Sri Vijaya Puram, alongside beach sports activities at Corbyn’s Cove.
The three-day festival is being organized in collaboration with allied departments and is expected to provide a platform for local businesses, food entrepreneurs, self-help groups and artisans to showcase products and services linked to the Islands’ unique culinary and cultural heritage.
The Tourism Department has invited hoteliers, restaurant owners, food vendors, self-help groups and interested individuals to participate in the festival by reserving space for the sale and display of theme-based products. Special emphasis has been placed on encouraging vendors dealing in local spices, agricultural produce, horticultural products, organic produce, traditional delicacies and innovative food creations.
Officials stated that the event aims to create a vibrant marketplace for local enterprises while supporting sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship opportunities. The festival is also intended to strengthen the Islands’ image as a tourism destination that can attract visitors throughout the year.
In addition to food and trade-related activities, the festival will feature cultural programmes by local musical groups and bands. Organisers expect the performances to add a cultural dimension to the event while providing local artists with an opportunity to reach a wider audience.
The department has also invited creative volunteers to participate through self-composed poetry recitations, skits, instrumental performances, live art demonstrations and other creative presentations. Artists interested in exhibiting paintings and other artistic works will be provided suitable exhibition space on a rent-free basis during the festival.
Interested artists and creative participants have been asked to submit their details through email on or before June 24, 2026. The initiative seeks to integrate culinary tourism with local art and cultural expression, creating a broader platform for community participation.
According to the schedule released by the department, applications for stalls must be submitted by June 23, 2026, before 11 a.m. The allotment of stalls will be finalized by the designated committee on June 24, followed by the issuance of allotment letters on the same day.
Application forms for stalls can be downloaded from the official website of the Tourism Department or obtained from the Operational Section of the Directorate of Information, Publicity and Tourism during office hours.
The Monsoon Food and Spice Fest 2026 is expected to bring together food entrepreneurs, farmers, artists, tourism stakeholders and visitors under one platform, highlighting the culinary diversity, cultural richness and tourism potential of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
