Mary Millben Alleges US Donors Fund CJP, Claims Foreign Plot Behind Delhi Protests

Date:

New Delhi, October 14: American singer Mary Millben has alleged that US-based donors are financing the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a recently formed political satirical outfit involved in demonstrations in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll tampering and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Millben claimed that certain American donors follow a pattern of targeting conservative leaders, recruiting people educated in the United States and funding them to foment unrest in their home countries. She did not name CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke in the post, and the report provided no independent evidence to substantiate her allegation that the outfit receives US funding.

Millben described the alleged strategy as an attempt to destabilise targeted nations, while arguing that such efforts often fail but can still affect governance and development.

“These select donors have a pattern globally – target conservative global leaders, find an U.S. educated person from the country, radicalize them, send them back to the country, and fund them to start chaos and destruction,” she wrote.

The allegations come amid claims of a foreign conspiracy behind the Delhi demonstrations involving CJP and opposition parties. The protests concern demands for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner over allegations linked to electoral rolls and the SIR exercise. The material provided does not establish a connection between the protests and any foreign funding.

Dipke, the CJP founder, graduated from Boston University in the United States before returning to India, according to the report. His satirical criticism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained traction on social media, with his Instagram content attracting widespread attention.

Millben also voiced support for the Narendra Modi government and urged Indians to oppose what she described as foreign attempts to disrupt the country’s governance. Calling on young people to speak out, she said the moment demanded public engagement rather than silence.

She further advocated a peaceful counter-movement, urging young Indians to organise against the political outfit while presenting the initiative as a defence of democracy and freedom.

“It is time for a new voice in India, born, raised, educated on the soil of India, to RISE UP, organize, and peacefully protest the disruptive spirit of the Cockroach Party. There should always be a counter movement to uphold democracy and freedom,” she said.

Millben became prominent in India during the country’s 75th Independence Day celebrations in 2022. In 2023, she performed India’s national anthem during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States.
