The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has announced a series of one-month training programmes in dairy, poultry, goatery, piggery, and fodder cultivation. Aimed at enhancing skill development and economic self-reliance among rural and urban populations, these training initiatives will be conducted across various livestock and poultry farms in the islands.
The training will be coordinated by the Animal Husbandry Training Institute (AHTI), Dollygunj, and sessions will take place at facilities in Sitanagar, Webi, Basantipur (North & Middle Andamans), Campbell Bay, Kamorta, Car Nicobar (Nicobar District), and Nanjappa Nagar, Little Andaman and Dollygunj (South Andaman).
Designed to bridge the gap between traditional practices and scientific farming methods, the programme will help participants tap into local market demands more efficiently. The training calendar for 2025–2026 has been published on the department’s website, and interested farmers and entrepreneurs can apply online at https://ahvs.andaman.gov.in
By creating a skilled farming community, the administration aims to stimulate rural economic growth while promoting sustainable livestock practices in the islands.
