Tourism Department Plans Surfing Festival in Little Andaman from April 9 To 12

Date:

The Andaman and Nicobar Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Surfing Federation of India, will organise the Surfing Festival 2026 at Little Andaman from April 9 to 12, with participation expected from domestic and international surfers.

The event is set to draw adventure enthusiasts, professional surfers, and tourists, positioning Little Andaman as a key destination for water sports activities. Officials anticipate a significant turnout, including island residents and visiting tourists, who are expected to attend and witness the festival.

In preparation for the event, the Tourism Department has invited entrepreneurs, stakeholders, and travel agents to establish temporary tented accommodation facilities at designated locations. These facilities are planned to operate from April 8 to 13, aligning with the duration of the festival and expected visitor influx.

Authorities stated that the Department will extend necessary logistical support and facilitation to interested parties for setting up the temporary infrastructure. The initiative aims to accommodate the anticipated surge in visitors while ensuring organised and accessible lodging arrangements during the event period.

Applicants interested in setting up tent facilities have been asked to submit their proposals to the Director (IP&T) Office by March 31. The application must include details regarding the number of tents proposed to be installed.

The festival is expected to contribute to tourism activity in Little Andaman by attracting participants and spectators from outside the islands. With increasing interest in surfing and adventure tourism, the event reflects ongoing efforts to promote coastal and marine-based tourism in the region.

Officials indicated that coordination with stakeholders will be key to managing visitor facilities and ensuring smooth execution of the festival. The provision of temporary accommodation is intended to support tourism infrastructure without placing pressure on existing facilities.

The Surfing Festival 2026 is part of broader initiatives to expand tourism engagement in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, particularly in emerging destinations like Little Andaman. Authorities continue to focus on facilitating participation from both local and external stakeholders to strengthen tourism-related opportunities.
