Lamba Line Petrol Pump Goes 24×7, Boosting Mobility in South Andaman

Date:

Manoj Marketings, the operator of the Lamba Line Petrol Pump in South Andaman, has announced the commencement of round-the-clock operations, making fuel and essential vehicle services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The move is expected to ease travel-related challenges for residents, daily commuters and tourism stakeholders across the region.

According to the announcement, the decision aims to address long-standing concerns related to limited fuel availability during late-night and early-morning hours. Residents dependent on odd-hour travel for work, emergencies and essential commuting are likely to benefit from uninterrupted access to fuel and basic services.

The development is particularly significant for tour operators catering to Baratang Islands, where vehicles are required to join early-morning convoys. Continuous fuel availability is expected to reduce last-minute congestion at fuel stations, streamline logistics and ensure timely departures, contributing to smoother tourism operations in South Andaman.

In addition to fuel supply, the petrol pump will provide vehicle air and water facilities throughout the day and night. Clean drinking water, offered as part of the outlet’s public utility services, will also remain accessible at all hours, benefiting motorists, residents and travellers passing through the area.

Owner Anita Puria stated that the decision was taken keeping public convenience and community needs in mind. She said uninterrupted access to fuel and basic amenities was essential as mobility requirements and tourism activity continue to grow in the islands.

The move has also reignited discussion on late-night services in the islands. As a major tourist destination, Andaman and Nicobar Islands witness movement at all hours, yet many establishments continue to shut down by 11 pm. Observers say that instead of blanket closures, there is a need to regulate and allow essential and tourism-linked services to function late into the night in a structured manner. With tourism and mobility steadily expanding, the 24×7 operation of the Lamba Line Petrol Pump is being seen not just as a convenience, but as a signal towards rethinking night-time service regulations in the islands.

With South Andaman witnessing increasing vehicular movement linked to tourism, services and emergency travel, the introduction of 24×7 operations at the Lamba Line Petrol Pump is being viewed as a practical step towards improving infrastructure support for the region’s residents and visitors.
