Emergency Response Training Held in Kadamtala Focuses on Life Saving Skills

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 25: A community-focused emergency response training programme was conducted in Kadamtala to improve public preparedness in handling critical medical situations, including snake bites and cardiac emergencies.

The session was organised by Police Station Kadamtala in collaboration with Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and the Adventure Tour Operator of India at the Gram Panchayat Hall, Kadamtala on April 25, 2026. The initiative aimed to strengthen awareness and equip participants with basic life-saving skills required during emergencies.

Medical experts Dr. Marc Sirur and Aron Victor Dernandes led the training session, providing practical demonstrations and instructions on first aid procedures. The programme focused on improving immediate response capabilities among community members when faced with life-threatening situations.

A key focus of the training was snake bite management, where participants were educated on correct first aid measures, immediate precautions, and the need to avoid commonly believed myths that can delay treatment. Emphasis was placed on the importance of shifting victims quickly to the nearest medical facility without delay.

The session also included a detailed demonstration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Trainers explained the step-by-step process to assist individuals suffering from cardiac arrest, drowning, unconsciousness, or breathing difficulties. The demonstration highlighted the importance of maintaining basic life support until professional medical assistance becomes available.

Participants were given practical exposure to emergency response techniques, allowing them to understand how timely intervention can significantly improve survival outcomes in critical situations. The training encouraged residents to respond calmly and effectively during medical emergencies.

The programme brought together local residents in Kadamtala and aimed to build community-level resilience by improving awareness of first response practices. It also addressed gaps in basic emergency knowledge, particularly in rural and remote areas where immediate medical support may not always be accessible.

Authorities stated that such training initiatives are part of broader efforts to promote public safety and emergency preparedness across the region. The focus remains on building awareness and ensuring that individuals are equipped to act responsibly during unforeseen medical emergencies.

The event concluded with reinforcement of key emergency protocols and encouragement for participants to share the knowledge within their communities, strengthening overall preparedness at the grassroots level.
