Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 16: An awareness programme on career opportunities in the Territorial Army was organised for third-year undergraduate students at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme was organised by the 154 Infantry Battalion (TA) Bihar at the Lecture Gallery of JNRM. Students from several undergraduate disciplines participated in the programme, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geography and Computer Science.
The session focused on providing students with information about the Territorial Army, its role, recruitment pathways for soldiers and the process of commissioning officers.
The keynote address was delivered by Lt. Col. Naveen Kumar Sinha, who spoke to the students about the opportunities available through the Territorial Army.
During his address, Lt. Col. Sinha provided detailed information on the role of the Territorial Army and explained the recruitment pathways for those seeking to join as soldiers. He also outlined the commissioning process for officers, giving students an overview of the routes available for pursuing a career in the Territorial Army.
The interaction was aimed at familiarising undergraduate students with career opportunities in the defence services and providing information that could help them understand the different pathways associated with the Territorial Army.
Students from seven academic disciplines attended the programme, bringing together those pursuing studies in science, life sciences, geography and computer science.
Lt. Col. Sinha also encouraged the students to consider the defence services as a career option and described service in the armed forces as an opportunity to serve the nation.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to learn about a defence career option alongside their undergraduate education. The session specifically addressed the Territorial Army and covered both soldier recruitment and officer commissioning.
The Territorial Army awareness programme was conducted at the JNRM Lecture Gallery, providing students with a direct interaction with a representative of the Territorial Army and an opportunity to learn about the organisation and its career pathways.
The participation of students from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geography and Computer Science reflected the broad academic background of those attending the session.
Through the programme, students were introduced to the role of the Territorial Army and the processes associated with joining it, including recruitment as soldiers and commissioning as officers.
The session also highlighted defence services as a possible career avenue for young graduates. Lt. Col. Naveen Kumar Sinha’s keynote address focused on explaining the available pathways and encouraging students to explore the opportunities associated with the Territorial Army.
The awareness programme formed an interaction between the Territorial Army and undergraduate students of JNRM, with career opportunities and recruitment processes forming the central focus of the session.
