The Directorate of Labour, Employment and Training has announced that several seats across government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands remain vacant under certain categories and will now be filled through the General Merit List (Category-V). The institutes include Government ITI Dollygunj, Government ITI Bakultala, and Government ITI Arong.
According to the official schedule released on October 21, the counselling process will take place from October 27 onwards. Interested candidates whose names appear on the General Merit List have been advised to attend the counselling in person or through an authorized representative. The General Merit List (Category-V) is already available on the official College Admission Portal of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration at https://collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in.
As per the official schedule, counselling for Government ITI Dollygunj will be held on October 27 at 9 AM at the institute campus in Sri Vijaya Puram. For Government ITI Bakultala, Rangat, the session will take place on October 28 at 9 AM. Similarly, candidates applying for Government ITI Arong, Car Nicobar, can attend counselling on October 28 at 9 AM either at ITI Arong or at ITI Dollygunj in Sri Vijaya Puram, where the process will be simultaneously coordinated for the convenience of candidates.
The Directorate has clarified that only candidates or their duly authorized representatives will be permitted to participate in the counselling. Those attending must bring original certificates for verification, including their qualification certificate, category or local certificate, duration certificate, transfer certificate, Aadhaar card, and bank passbook. Alongside, they must submit one set of self-attested photocopies of these documents, two recent passport-size photographs, and the prescribed admission fee of Rs. 950.
Candidates have been strictly advised to report at the designated venue, date, and time. The notification clearly states that late reporting will not be entertained under any circumstances, and the seat will be allotted to the next eligible candidate based on merit. The admission process will therefore proceed on a first-come, merit-based basis during the scheduled sessions to ensure transparency and fairness.
Once the seat is allotted, selected candidates will be required to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate within two days from the date of admission. Failure to do so will lead to automatic cancellation of the admission, following which the vacant seat will be offered to the next candidate in order of merit without further intimation.
Officials have emphasized the importance of completing the documentation and verification process carefully, as incomplete records or failure to pay the fee on the day of counselling could result in forfeiture of the candidate’s claim to the seat.
The ITIs in the Islands, particularly Dollygunj, Bakultala, and Arong, play a crucial role in providing skill-based vocational education to local youth. These institutes train students across various trades such as electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and computer operations, equipping them with employable skills for both government and private sectors.
With several seats still vacant under certain categories, this special round of counselling provides an opportunity for eligible students who were not allotted seats in earlier rounds to secure admission. The administration hopes that filling these remaining seats will ensure optimum utilization of training facilities and contribute to the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance technical education and skill development in the Islands.
For aspiring candidates across South, Middle, and Nicobar regions, this admission round is a final window to join skill training programs that can lead to meaningful employment. The Directorate has reiterated that no further extensions or additional rounds will be conducted after this phase, making timely attendance crucial for all shortlisted candidates.
