Sri Vijaya Puram, April 18: Indian Oil Corporation Limited has confirmed that the supply of petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands remains sufficient to meet current demand, with no reported disruption in distribution.
The assurance was issued by the State Level Coordinator for the islands, who stated that the company is continuously monitoring the supply chain. According to the official, petroleum oil and LPG supplies are being received without interruption at IOCL facilities in Sri Vijaya Puram, and distribution across the islands continues smoothly.
The corporation has also stated that it is working in coordination with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to maintain consistent fuel availability and ensure stability in supply operations across the region.
Data shared by IOCL indicates a 4.87 percent increase in domestic LPG consumption and a 20.21 percent rise in non-domestic LPG usage during the financial year 2025–26. The company has reiterated its commitment to meeting growing energy requirements in the islands.
Consumers have been advised to utilise SMS, missed call, and IVRS-based systems for booking LPG refills. The use of the Delivery Authentication Code system has also been encouraged to ensure that cylinders are delivered to the intended recipients.
For migrant workers and students without local residential documentation, 5 kg LPG cylinders are being provided through authorised distributors upon submission of valid government-issued identity proof along with a self-declaration.
As per government guidelines, domestic LPG consumers can book refill cylinders after a waiting period of 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural distributorship regions following the previous delivery.
IOCL has been carrying out routine inspections at LPG distributorship points to ensure compliance and uninterrupted supply. The administration has also intensified monitoring of fuel distribution channels, including random checks to prevent hoarding and black marketing practices.
To further strengthen oversight, the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has established a control room to track real-time stock levels of LPG and petroleum products across the islands. The facility is also responsible for receiving and verifying consumer complaints through a toll-free number and telephone helpline.
A designated nodal officer has been appointed to manage coordination and grievance handling through the control system.
Consumers can also directly contact IOCL officials in case of grievances related to petrol, diesel, or LPG supply in Sri Vijaya Puram and surrounding areas through designated contact numbers provided by the corporation.
Authorities have urged the public not to believe rumours regarding fuel shortages and to avoid panic buying, stating that supply systems remain stable and under continuous supervision across the islands.
