Sri Vijaya Puram, May 12: The Directorate of Industries has invited applications for admission to various one-year conventional training programmes for the academic year 2026–27 across different training centres in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Training programmes are aimed at promoting vocational skills, technical education and employment-oriented training among local youth.
According to the Department, the training centres at Sri Vijaya Puram will offer courses in Tailoring and Garment Making, Cane and Bamboo Handicrafts, Carpentry and General Engineering.
The training centre at Diglipur will provide courses in Tailoring and Garment Making, General Engineering and Carpentry.

Similarly, the centre at Hut Bay will conduct training programmes in General Engineering and Carpentry.
At Car Nicobar, courses will be available in Tailoring and Garment Making, Carpentry, Coir and Coir Products and General Engineering.
Candidates applying for admission must have passed Class X and should be between 15 and 45 years of age as on July 1, 2026.
Applicants must also possess a valid Local Certificate of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and should be physically fit, certified by a Government doctor.
The Department informed that eligible trainees completing the programme with at least 80 per cent attendance will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,000.
Issuance of application forms commenced on May 11 at the Training Cell of the Directorate of Industries and at the Department’s Extension Offices located in Diglipur, Hut Bay and Car Nicobar.
The last date for submission of completed application forms is June 12, 2026.
Officials stated that the training programmes are intended to equip youth with practical vocational skills and improve self-employment and livelihood opportunities in the Islands.
The courses are expected to benefit students and unemployed youth interested in technical trades, handicrafts and small-scale industries.
The Directorate of Industries has advised interested candidates to contact the concerned Industries Promotion Officers at Sri Vijaya Puram, Diglipur, Hut Bay or Car Nicobar for further information and guidance regarding admission procedures and training details.
Authorities stated that such vocational programmes continue to play an important role in skill development and strengthening local entrepreneurship in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Department has been undertaking various initiatives to promote traditional crafts, technical training and industry-oriented skills among island youth in line with employment and self-reliance objectives.
