Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 9: Four MBBS seats have been earmarked under the Central Pool for spouses and children of civilian victims of terrorism for the 2026-27 academic year, with eligible candidates in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands required to submit applications by September 11.
The seats, allocated following communication from the Under Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, CTCR Division, New Delhi, will be available at three medical institutions: one seat at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya, Bihar; one at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, Maharashtra; and two at Pt. JNM Medical College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The Ministry has prescribed a priority sequence for allocating the seats. Priority-I covers children who have lost both parents to terrorist attacks. Priority-II applies to children from families where the sole breadwinner was killed by terrorists. Priority-III covers wards of victims who suffered permanent disability or serious injury caused by terrorist operations.
Candidates must be either the spouse or child of a deceased or disabled civilian victim of terrorism. They must be Indian nationals and have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission to the first year of the undergraduate medical course, or attain that age on or before December 31 of the year of admission.
Applicants must also meet the educational requirements prescribed under the National Medical Commission’s Graduate Medical Education Regulation. They must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English individually.
For Unreserved and General-Economically Weaker Section candidates, the minimum requirement is 50 per cent marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination. The requirement is 40 per cent for SC, ST and OBC candidates. For persons with disabilities, the threshold is 45 per cent for Unreserved and Gen-EWS candidates and 40 per cent for SC, ST and OBC candidates.
Candidates must also qualify in NEET (UG)-2026. The minimum qualifying percentile is the 50th for Unreserved and Gen-EWS candidates, 40th for SC, ST and OBC candidates, and 45th for PwD candidates in the Unreserved and Gen-EWS categories and 40th for PwD candidates in the SC, ST and OBC categories.
The percentile will be determined against the highest marks secured in the All India common merit list of NEET for admission to MBBS and BDS courses.
Eligible candidates have been asked to submit the prescribed application form in duplicate along with all required documents, including documentary evidence establishing the civilian victim of terrorism status.
Applications must reach the Development-IV Section, Secretariat, Sri Vijaya Puram, in person by 3 pm on September 11, 2026. Authorities have made clear that incomplete applications will be summarily rejected and applications submitted after the stipulated date and time will not be accepted.
