Former LG Lt Gen AK Singh Congratulates Team Behind The Wave Andaman

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 26 — Former Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen. Ajay Kumar Singh (Retd), has extended his congratulations to the team behind The Andaman Wave, calling the launch of the new digital news platform a welcome development for the Union Territory’s media landscape.

In a message addressed to the people of the islands and the platform’s editorial team, Singh said, “My greetings to all islanders and especially to Team Waves. I am very happy to know that a new journalistic venture is being launched in Andaman and Port Blair. For this, I congratulate the team.”

Lt. Gen. Singh, who served as Lieutenant Governor from 2013 to 2016, underlined the importance of independent, locally driven media in the islands. He described The Andaman Wave as a step in the right direction and expressed hope that it would encourage more such initiatives in the future. “This is just the start of a venture, and I am sure that many more such initiatives will come back for the islands,” he said.

He also issued a broader appeal to members of the Andaman and Nicobar diaspora, particularly those who have found success abroad, to re-engage with the region and support its development. “I urge those who have succeeded abroad to come to the islands and give their contribution,” he said.

Reflecting on his personal bond with the territory, Singh described his years in office as a memorable chapter. “The three and a half years that I spent in the islands were a golden period for me. My family and I always remember that period,” he said.

Singh added that although he now resides in Delhi, he continues to feel a strong emotional connection to the islands. “I stay in Delhi, but my heart remains in the islands. I hope that I will come to meet you soon.”
