Sri Vijaya Puram, April 30: A new pre-primary section has been inaugurated at Zilla Parishad Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (ZPVKV) in Ferrargunj, marking a step towards strengthening early childhood education infrastructure in South Andaman.
The facility was formally opened on April 30 by Zilla Parishad South Andaman Adhyaksh Prakash Adhikari in the presence of Chief Executive Officer Rajanish Singh, Zilla Parishad member Abdul Bashir and Gram Panchayat Ferrargunj Pradhan Sunil Kumar. The event saw participation from students, parents and teaching staff.
The inauguration brings renewed attention to the need for structured early learning systems in the islands, with officials highlighting the role of pre-primary education in shaping long-term academic and developmental outcomes.
During the programme, representatives interacted with students, parents and teachers, focusing on the importance of building a strong foundation in the early years of schooling. Officials stressed the need to adopt updated teaching approaches that support cognitive, emotional and social development among young learners.
Teachers were encouraged to introduce activity-based and interactive learning methods to create a more engaging classroom environment. Authorities noted that such approaches can improve learning outcomes by making education more accessible and effective for children at the foundational stage.
Parents were also urged to take an active role in their children’s education, with officials underlining the importance of consistent support at home alongside formal schooling. Community involvement was described as a key factor in improving overall educational standards.
The initiative reflects efforts by Zilla Parishad South Andaman to expand and upgrade educational infrastructure in rural and semi-urban areas. Officials indicated that strengthening early education remains a priority, given its impact on long-term academic performance and skill development.
The newly inaugurated section is expected to provide a structured and supportive learning environment for young children in the Ferrargunj area, addressing gaps in access to early education facilities.
Authorities said the focus will remain on improving both infrastructure and teaching quality to ensure holistic development of students. The programme concluded with a call for sustained collaboration between educators, parents and local institutions.
