Diglipur Observes World Dyslexia and Mental Health Days with Awareness Programs

The Block Project Office, Diglipur, under the Inclusive Education wing of Samagra Shiksha, organized awareness programmes across local schools to highlight learning differences and mental health, reinforcing the Education Department’s commitment to inclusive education and holistic student development.

Marking World Dyslexia Day, an awareness session was held at GPS Talbagan, Diglipur, focusing on Dyslexia, a learning disorder that affects reading, writing, and spelling skills. The programme, conducted under the theme “Understanding Dyslexia: Early Support for Lifelong Success,” aimed to create understanding among educators, parents, and the community about early identification and support mechanisms to ensure lifelong learning success for affected students.

A total of 51 participants attended the programme, including parents, teachers, students, members of the School Management Committee (SMC) and School Management Development Committee (SMDC), as well as Anganwadi workers. The session emphasized strategies for providing academic and emotional support to students with Dyslexia, highlighting the importance of awareness and early intervention in mainstream educational settings.

In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, the Block Project Office also organized an awareness programme at PM SHRI GMSSS Sitanagar. This event aimed to sensitize students, teachers, and community members about mental health issues, under the theme “Mental Health Matters: Building Awareness and Support for All.” The programme focused on fostering supportive environments in schools and communities, highlighting the importance of integrating mental health awareness into daily education practices.

During the session, participants were educated on recognizing signs of mental health challenges among students and the role of teachers, parents, and community members in providing timely guidance and support. Discussions included strategies for promoting mental well-being, facilitating early interventions, and creating inclusive classrooms that accommodate emotional and cognitive needs.

Officials emphasized that these initiatives are part of the Department’s broader efforts to ensure that every child receives the necessary support to thrive academically and socially. By raising awareness among stakeholders and providing practical guidance, the programmes aim to build a culture of inclusivity and understanding within schools and the wider community.

Through such initiatives, the Education Department demonstrates its commitment to promoting equity, empathy, and holistic development for students, ensuring that children with learning differences or mental health concerns are supported effectively. The awareness programmes are expected to strengthen the integration of inclusive education and mental health support across schools in Diglipur, contributing to a sustainable framework for student welfare and development.
