Aberdeen, Pahargaon get new SHOs in Andaman & Nicobar Police reshuffle

Police Headquarters orders transfer postings; capital region police stations see fresh leadership with immediate effect

Date:

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Andaman & Nicobar Police has ordered the immediate transfer of 12 officers, effecting key changes at Police Station Aberdeen and Police Station Pahargaon, two of the most sensitive and high-footfall police stations in the Islands.

As per Order Book No. 12 issued from Police Headquarters at Sri Vijaya Puram on February 25, and reviewed by The Wave Andaman, Inspector Vijay Kumar has been posted as the new Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Aberdeen. He was earlier serving as SHO of PS Diglipur. Aberdeen police station, located in the capital region and handling a high volume of law and order as well as criminal cases, will now function under his leadership.

At PS Pahargaon, Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin has been appointed as the new SHO. He moves from his earlier posting as SHO of the Cyber Crime Police Station. Inspector Mohd Elias, who was heading PS Pahargaon, has been transferred to the Security Cell as part of the same order.

The transfer order, approved by the State Police Establishment Board, outlines a wider reshuffle across districts and specialised units.

Inspector Abdul Sajid has been shifted from SHO PS Mayabunder to SHO Cyber Crime Police Station. Inspector K. Binoj has been posted as SHO ANPS from HI/PHQ, while Inspector Joju K has been transferred from the SP(D), North & Middle Andaman Office to HI/PHQ.

Inspector Rangaraj has been moved from SHO PS Chatham to the Recruitment Cell, and Inspector Aditya Narayan has been posted from the Recruitment Cell to South Andaman district. Inspector K. Abdul Nasir has been transferred from the Security Unit to SHO PS Chatham.

Further, Inspector Valentine, who was serving as SHO Teressa, has been posted to the Traffic Branch. Sub-Inspector S. Viswanand from the Home Guard Unit has been assigned as SHO Teressa, and Sub-Inspector M. Saravanan has been transferred from PS Chatham to SHO Katchal.

The order also provides for interim charge arrangements. Inspector R.K. Majumdar of SP(D), North & Middle Andaman District, will look after the charge of SHO PS Mayabunder in addition to his existing duties until further orders. Similarly, SI Mohd Rafique of PS Diglipur has been directed to hold additional charge of SHO PS Diglipur until further instructions.

Police department sources said the reshuffle is aimed at administrative balancing and operational efficiency across key police stations and specialised units in the Island
