The Directorate of Education has announced the postponement of the counselling process for admission to the two-year D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) course at Dr. S.R. DIET, Garacharma, for the academic year 2025–26 due to administrative reasons. The revised schedule now places counselling for candidates in the Science stream on July 28, 2025, and for those in the Humanities stream on July 29, 2025. Both sessions will commence at 9:00 AM. Eligible applicants are advised to take note of the changes and ensure their timely presence at the venue as per the updated dates.
In a separate development, the Block Project Officer of Wimberlygunj, under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, will be conducting an Identification and Assessment Camp on July 31, 2025, at the GSSS Wimberlygunj Auditorium, beginning at 9:30 AM. The camp, organised under the Inclusive Education programme, aims to assess and support Children with Special Needs (CwSN) within the Wimberlygunj Block. It is designed to serve two primary objectives: to distribute aids and appliances to children who have already been identified as having special needs, and to screen and identify additional students across schools in the block who may have suspected disabilities.
Parents and guardians of the beneficiaries are required to bring essential documents for verification, including a Disability Certificate and UDID Card (both mandatory for children with 40% or more disability), Aadhaar Card of the child, and a valid Income Certificate not older than six months, showing that the family income does not exceed ₹22,500 per month. Additionally, two passport-size photographs and a photocopy of the Ration Card or BPL Card must be submitted for those applying under the NIRAMAYA Health Insurance Scheme.
The camp is a key step in ensuring the holistic inclusion of differently-abled children in the mainstream education system by providing them with the necessary tools and support. Through initiatives like these, Samagra Shiksha continues its commitment to bridging educational gaps and creating a more accessible learning environment. Both events underscore the administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance education delivery across the islands and ensure inclusive growth.
