Sri Vijaya Puram, July 29: The Institution of Engineers (India), Andaman & Nicobar State Centre (IEI ANSC), in collaboration with Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), organised an expert lecture on “The Engineer of 2050: Designing and Building a Regenerative Future”, bringing together engineering professionals, faculty members and students to deliberate on the evolving role of engineers in building a sustainable future.
The programme, held at the AV Hall of DBRAIT, commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal of DBRAIT, who highlighted the transformative role engineers will play in addressing emerging global challenges. She stressed the importance of innovation, environmental stewardship and interdisciplinary collaboration in developing solutions for the complex demands of the twenty-first century.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Ar. Jency John, Chief Architect, Jency John Architects & Engineers, who presented an insightful session on regenerative design, sustainable engineering practices and the expanding responsibilities of engineers in creating environmentally responsible and resilient infrastructure. Drawing from practical examples and contemporary developments, the speaker encouraged participants to adopt regenerative and sustainable approaches in engineering and architectural practice.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Usha Stephen, FIE, Chairperson, IEI ANSC, underscored the value of expert interactions in promoting continuous professional learning, enhancing technical excellence and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Debdas Paik, MIE, Honorary Secretary, IEI ANSC, who expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker, the chief guest, organisers, faculty members, students and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from Corporate Members of IEI, faculty members and students of the Department of Civil Engineering at DBRAIT. The programme was coordinated by Altamash Mustafa, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, DBRAIT, whose efforts ensured its smooth conduct.
The organisers said the expert lecture served as an enriching platform for knowledge sharing and intellectual exchange, encouraging participants to envision the future of engineering through the principles of sustainability, innovation and regenerative development.
