Sri Vijaya Puram, October 5: Students at DBRAIT received awareness sessions and health screening focused on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and substance abuse as the institute’s Red Ribbon Club held a sensitization programme in collaboration with ANACS, AN Branch and CHC Garacharma.
The programme was organised at the Seminar Hall of the Green Building, DBRAIT, and combined health education with screening and a student-led reel making competition. The sessions addressed HIV/AIDS, antiretroviral therapy (ART), sexually transmitted infections and sexually transmitted diseases (STI/STD), substance abuse, prevention measures and social responsibility.
Altamash Mustafa, Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club at DBRAIT, served as the institute’s resource person and led the sensitization session. Mini, ICTC Counsellor at CHC Garacharma, conducted the counselling and awareness component, covering HIV prevention, testing and available support services.

The CHC Garacharma team also screened hostel residents and day scholars at DBRAIT as part of the programme. The screening focused on preventive healthcare and timely medical intervention.
The initiative also included a reel making competition aimed at encouraging students to communicate health-related messages through creative content. Participants were asked to address HIV/AIDS, ART, STI/STD, drug and substance abuse, as well as the importance of stigma-free social responsibility.
The competition winners will receive cash prizes, according to the organisers.
The programme brought together awareness, counselling and health screening while giving students a platform to engage with issues linked to HIV prevention, testing, treatment support, substance abuse and social attitudes. It was conducted by the Red Ribbon Club, DBRAIT, with ANACS, AN Branch and CHC Garacharma.
The activities addressed individual health awareness and wider social responsibility, while the screening component brought preventive healthcare directly to participating students at the institute.
