CRC Hosts Special Event, Expands Services for Divyangjan in A&N Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) held a special event to showcase its five-year journey and discuss future service expansion. Rajeev Sharma, IFS, Joint Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Government of India, was the chief guest.

He distributed aids and appliances under the Government of India’s ADIP Scheme and expressed the Ministry’s commitment to expanding CRC’s reach. Dr. Nachiketa Rout, Director, NIEPMD Chennai, stressed the importance of strengthening rehabilitation services across the Islands.

Sumithamol presented CRC’s achievements and future goals. Ashok Biswas from the Directorate of Social Welfare revealed that land for a permanent CRC campus has been identified and a dedicated bus facility for remote beneficiaries is being planned. The event also included a parent testimonial and a training session on independent living for Divyangjan families.
