PG admissions extended as B.Sc B.Ed counselling set for September in Islands

Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) has extended the last date for submission of offline admission forms for various postgraduate courses, while the final schedule for B.Sc B.Ed counselling at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar has also been confirmed. The developments mark a crucial stage for higher education aspirants in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

As per the revised postgraduate admission schedule, applications can now be submitted offline up to September 12. The provisional merit list will be published on September 17, with claims and objections allowed until September 19. The final merit list is scheduled for release on September 22, followed by admission counselling on September 23. Candidates are expected to download application forms through the Common College Admission Portal (CCAP) at https://collegeadmission.andamannicobar.gov.in. The prospectus for various programmes is also available on the portal. Completed application forms must be submitted offline to the respective interdisciplinary departments. All admission-related processes, including merit list publication and counselling, will be managed as per the announced schedule.

In parallel, the Administration has finalised the counselling process for B.Sc B.Ed seats reserved at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. These seats are specifically allocated for students from the Islands for the academic session 2025-26. The final merit list for this course has been confirmed, as no claims or objections were received after the publication of the provisional list on September 5. With this, counselling for the eligible candidates will be held on September 15 at 10 am in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram.

Candidates whose names appeared in the final merit list are required to attend counselling in person, bringing original educational qualification certificates, testimonials, four passport-size photographs, and two permanency certificates for sureties. Additional documents to verify category eligibility must also be produced. The Administration has emphasised that failure to appear in person or to present the required original documents will result in disqualification, regardless of the candidate’s merit.

If seats remain unutilised within specific categories, they may be reallocated from Category V in order of merit. No subsequent claims will be entertained from absentees or those failing to produce required documentation. This clear stipulation is designed to ensure transparency and adherence to the allocation process.

An important administrative update has also been issued: the Common College Admission Portal has shifted from “andaman.gov.in” to “andamannicobar.gov.in.” Candidates and institutions have been directed to use the updated portal for all announcements and information relating to allotment of professional, technical, and non-technical seats reserved at mainland institutions. This change is intended to streamline communication and avoid confusion among applicants.

For students across the Islands, these announcements highlight both opportunity and responsibility. The extended deadline for PG admissions offers additional time for aspirants to complete formalities, while the confirmed B.Sc B.Ed counselling provides clarity for candidates seeking entry into the teacher education programme.

With deadlines approaching, students are expected to remain attentive to published schedules and portal updates. The decisions taken this week will directly impact academic careers, making the coming fortnight a decisive period for candidates and institutions alike.
