Art & Sports Integrated Pedagogy Training for KRPs Begins in A&N Islands

A four-day Capacity Building Programme on integrating Art and Sports Integrated Pedagogy for Key Resource Persons (KRPs) from nine Educational Zones of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands began today. The initiative is being conducted by the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the State Institute of Education (SIE), with the objective of equipping KRPs with innovative teaching practices aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session at the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram. The Principal of the State Institute of Education, Sangeeta Chand, addressed the participants and underscored the importance of integrating experiential and joyful learning into classroom practices. She encouraged the KRPs to fully engage with the training sessions and resource materials to ensure effective implementation of the integrated pedagogical model across schools in the Islands.

According to officials, the workshop is structured to provide hands-on training that demonstrates how art and sports can be used to enhance learning experiences across different subjects. The integrated approach aims to make classroom environments more holistic, interactive, and student-centered, as envisioned in NEP 2020. The participating KRPs will later serve as master trainers, taking the pedagogy to teachers at the grassroots level to support wider adoption.

The sessions are being conducted by experts from RIE Bhubaneswar and NCERT, New Delhi. The panel of resource persons includes Lt (Prof) Rashmirekha Sethy, Dr. Rabinarayan Rath, Amitbhai Makwana, and Prof. Pawan Sudhir. Their role is to guide the participants through practical demonstrations, interactive modules, and structured discussions on integrating arts and physical education meaningfully into academic subjects.

The four-day programme is expected to strengthen the pedagogical capacity of the participating KRPs and contribute to the long-term transformation of classroom instruction in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, officials said.
