Blood Donation Camp to Be Held in Sri Vijaya Puram on May 25

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 24: In a joint initiative to promote voluntary blood donation, Gandhi Global Family, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in association with Pillar Health Care, will organise a blood donation camp on Saturday, May 25. The camp will take place at the Pillar Health Care premises from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The upcoming event will aim to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of blood donation and encourage healthy individuals to contribute to a cause that directly supports patients in need. Organisers have stated that individuals between the ages of 17 and 65, who meet the general health requirements, will be eligible to donate.

Medical professionals will be present at the venue to conduct preliminary health checks and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Donors will also receive refreshments and tokens of appreciation for their contributions.

The Gandhi Global Family team expressed hope that the initiative will see strong participation from the local community, including youth groups, civil society organisations, and healthcare advocates. “We are committed to building a culture of care and compassion in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,” said a spokesperson for the organisation.

Given the logistical challenges and limited supply in remote island territories, regular and voluntary blood donations are crucial. Experts have reiterated that a single unit of blood can save up to three lives and that consistent donor participation will go a long way in ensuring timely availability for medical emergencies, surgeries, and chronic treatments.

Citizens are urged to take part in the upcoming blood donation camp and support this vital cause. By setting aside a few minutes, individuals can make a lasting impact in the lives of those in need.
