Middle Andaman Hosts Beach Sports Festival, Locals Compete in Volleyball & Kabaddi

Date:

Middle Andaman witnessed an energetic two-day Beach Sports Festival at Raman Bagicha Beach, Nimbutala, organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Gram Panchayat Nimbutala, and other line departments. The event formed part of the Calendar of Events 2025–2026 of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and saw enthusiastic participation from the local community.

The festival featured a range of competitive sports, including Beach Volleyball, Beach Kabaddi, and Tug of War for both men and women. Entertainment-based activities such as Musical Chair and Passing the Ball were organized exclusively for women participants, adding a fun-filled dimension to the event. Teams and individuals actively participated, creating a lively and festive environment along the beach.

The closing ceremony, held on the final day, was attended by Vikash Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman, who praised the community for their enthusiasm and engagement. During the ceremony, winners and participants were awarded prizes, recognizing their efforts and achievements across the various competitions.

Officials highlighted that the successful execution of the festival underscored the Administration’s commitment to promoting tourism, sports, and community involvement at the grassroots level. The event not only encouraged local participation in recreational and competitive sports but also showcased the region as a potential hub for tourism and outdoor activities.

The Tourism Department coordinated logistics, security, and event management, ensuring smooth conduct of competitions while adhering to safety protocols. Village representatives and local volunteers contributed to organizing the festival, reflecting strong collaboration between administration and community members.

The Beach Sports Festival aimed to provide residents, especially youth and women, with a platform to actively engage in physical activity, develop teamwork, and strengthen community bonds. It also served as a showcase for the scenic beaches of Middle Andaman, attracting attention to the potential of promoting the islands as a sporting and recreational destination.

The Administration reiterated its plans to continue such events across the islands, combining tourism promotion, sports development, and public engagement. By linking cultural festivities with sporting activities, authorities aim to create opportunities for skill-building, entertainment, and social cohesion among island communities.
